KC Trojans Soccer Association is proud to have Karli Puentes serve as the Club's Female Technical Director, reflecting our ongoing commitment to investing in and strengthening the female side of the game.

A former Canadian Youth National Team player, Karli brings more than a decade of coaching and technical leadership experience across grassroots, competitive, and high-performance environments. Her playing background includes the Canadian National Training Program, the Alberta Provincial Program, the University of Arizona Women's Soccer Team, and semi-professional experience with TSAFC (now FC Tucson).

Karli's coaching and technical experience includes serving as Director of Female Player Development with an Edmonton based soccer club, where she oversaw the female pathway across multiple age groups, mentored coaches, supported curriculum development, and co-founded the Rise Up Female Leadership Program. She has extensive experience supporting player development, coach education, and creating positive environments that foster confidence, enjoyment, and long-term success.

As Female Technical Director, Karli works closely with coaches, players, and families to support the growth of the female program and ensure meaningful development opportunities for girls and young women across the Club.

Kirk is a highly respected and experienced soccer coach with a deep passion for player development and tactical excellence. He holds National B, Provincial B, and Provincial C Licenses and is currently advancing his coaching credentials by pursuing his National A License. Known for his strong leadership, creative problem-solving, and competitive spirit, Kirk brings over a decade of coaching experience at multiple levels, from grassroots to elite men’s programs.

In his new role with KC Trojans, Kirk leads the Varsity Program - supporting the long-term success and competitive growth of our older youth and adult players. He oversees the program’s curriculum, match preparation, and player evaluations while also aligning the varsity structure with the Club’s high-performance vision. Kirk’s strategic planning and leadership are central to creating a clear and achievable pathway for athletes who aspire to play at the post-secondary level.

One of the key pillars of Kirk’s role is to bridge the gap between youth sport and higher education opportunities. He works closely with players, families, and post-secondary recruiters to support athlete visibility and readiness for the next level of play. This includes coordinating with academic advisors, identifying scholarship and recruitment options, and advocating for KC athletes through connections with college and university programs across Canada, USA, and beyond.

By guiding players through the recruitment process and preparing them both technically and mentally, Kirk is helping to pave the way for more KC athletes to earn post-secondary placements, athletic scholarships, and advancement opportunities in soccer and academics alike.

Kirk also currently serves as Head Coach of the KC Trojans U13 Tier 1 Boys and U19 Men’s teams, where he fosters individual growth, team culture, and a winning mentality. 

As a former NCAA student-athlete at the University of Memphis, Kirk understands first-hand the commitment and preparation required to succeed at the collegiate level. His experience as a scholarship athlete fuels his passion for helping the next generation of players realize their full potential both on and off the pitch.
