KC Trojans Soccer Association is proud to announce that the club has officially achieved MA1 (Member Association Level 1) status and has been re-certified under the Standards for Quality Soccer (SQS) through Canada Soccer.
This milestone reflects KC’s ongoing commitment to excellence in youth player development, Safe Sport, coach education, governance, and long-term athlete development. MA1 status and SQS re-certification confirm that KC continues to meet nationally recognized standards for quality, safety, and organizational integrity across all areas of the club.
For our players and families, this means access to a trusted, well-structured youth soccer pathway delivered in a safe, inclusive, and development-focused environment. For our coaches and volunteers, it reinforces KC’s commitment to education, support, and best practices aligned with national standards.
Achieving MA1 and maintaining SQS is not a finish line — it is part of KC’s continued investment in building a strong, sustainable club that develops young athletes the right way.
We are extremely proud of this achievement and excited about what it means for the future of KC Trojans.
MA1 is a national club licensing standard from Canada Soccer that recognize clubs committed to quality, safety, and long-term youth player development.
For KC families, this means:
• Qualified coaches trained to support age-appropriate development
• Safe Sport policies that put youth well-being first
• A clear, structured pathway from early development through competitive youth soccer
• Consistent standards across teams and age groups
• Strong governance and accountability at the club level
SQS re-certification confirms that KC continues to meet national youth soccer standards year after year, while MA1 status recognizes KC’s organizational strength and long-term stability in delivering quality youth programs.
Achieving MA1 status marks an important milestone — and it also sets the foundation for what comes next.
KC Trojans will continue to strengthen its development pathway. We are committed to creating positive, high-quality environments that support long-term athlete development and player well-being.
Looking ahead, KC will:
• Continue investing in coach education and development standards
• Strengthen Safe Sport practices and athlete-centred environments
• Enhance technical programming and training consistency
• Support player progression through clearly defined youth pathways
• Build long-term club sustainability and strong governance
KC Trojans remains focused on growing the game the right way — developing confident players, strong teams, and a club community built for the future.

For five decades, the KC Trojans Soccer Association has been at the heart of Edmonton’s soccer community — developing players, building leaders, and creating lifelong connections through the beautiful game.
From our very first team in the 1970s to today’s elite player development programs, KC Trojans has grown into a respected cornerstone of soccer excellence. We are proud to celebrate 50 years of passion, performance, and progress — and we’re just getting started.
Our story begins with Father Michael Troy, founder of the Knights of Columbus Trojan Soccer Association. Born in Ireland and trained in Switzerland, Father Troy came to Edmonton in 1964. More than a respected cleric and educator, he was also a passionate athlete in soccer, rugby, and track.
In the mid-1970s, Father Troy formed the first KC team with graduates from St. Joseph’s and Archbishop O’Leary High Schools. His vision was simple yet powerful: to create opportunities for youth to grow through sport, guided by values of discipline, teamwork, and respect.
Under his leadership, KC was incorporated in 1979 and quickly became a leader in Edmonton’s soccer landscape. Today, we proudly continue his legacy as a founding member of the Edmonton Interdistrict Youth Soccer Association and as part of the Edmonton Minor Soccer Association (EMSA). Father Troy passed away in 2010 at the age of 92, leaving behind a lasting impact on countless players, coaches, and families.
KC Trojans has always been more than a club. We are a family and a community — united by our commitment to developing athletes both on and off the field.
As we look forward to the next 50 years, we remain dedicated to being a place where dreams take root, talent is nurtured, and leaders are made.
Here’s to the next chapter in KC Trojans history — together, stronger than ever.

Congratulations to our U19 team for capturing GOLD at the 2025 Provincial Championships. We are incredibly proud! Go Trojans Go!
